Leading a local church can be relationally complicated and emotionally taxing. There is often a high level of stress involved in leading church members. We sheep can be stubborn and opinionated! Additionally, leadership teams often consist of people with different personalities, perspectives, personal histories, and conflict styles, which makes it easy for team dynamics to become tense. Individuals may keep their thoughts and frustrations to themselves out of a desire to be gracious and maintain peace, but this tends to result in a growing distrust.

The process of untying the relational knots of a tense relationship dynamic is difficult, but necessary work. It involves empathetically wading through many of the thoughts, hurts, anxieties, fears, losses, and longings that inform desires and drive actions. As people gain more clarity amidst their struggles, the grace and truth of God are able to be applied with redemptive precision.

Scripture points to the life, death and resurrection of Jesus not only as the means of salvation, but as the model and methodology for personal care and growth. By his work people are forgiven sin and given renewed relationship with God and one another. As the gospel anchors the hope that drives relational repair, God is glorified and his Church is made increasingly beautiful!
